keep your feet on the ground

i received this email some time ago...and i still kept it in my mailbox. i thought i might share it with u. its about warren buffett, third-richest person in the world, after bill gates and carlos slim helu.

There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the third richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:
1. He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!
2. He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.
3. He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha, that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.
4. He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.
5. He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world's largest private jet company.
6. His company, Berkshire Hathaway , owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis. He has given his CEO's only two rules. Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder's money. Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.
7. He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch Television.
8. Bill Gates, the world's richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.
9. Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.
His advice to young people: "Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself and Remember:
A. Money doesn't create man but it is the man who created money.
B. Live your life as simple as you are.
C. Don't do what others say, just listen them, but do what you feel good.
D. Don't go on brand name; just wear those things in which u feel comfortable.
E. Don't waste your money on unnecessary things; just spend on them who really in need rather.
F. After all it's your life then why give chance to others to rule our life."

ing hui was in town some time ago. see, she cropped off my head on purpose! lolz hahhaa ok ok, unintentionally. i think i had a nice weekend. last weekend was spent on watching naruto and eating roasted duck for supper at my friend's place on sat nite. hang out the whole day on sunday cos my kch friends are in town. we had bak kut teh for lunch, sushi king for dinner and durians for supper! shiok right? hahahah i also got myself an army cargo pants which i wanted to for some time now. with the sales everywhere, it is almost impossible not to be lured into it. i don't shop much, only for CNY! i'm not kidding. so i guess its alright. besides, i need to get some t-shirts cos i'm tired of wearing and seeing the same ones which i have been wearing for so many years :P lolz hopefully i still can get my hands on some before the sales end. (and a pair of basketball shoes i've been eyeing on lolz)
anyways, i gtg. still got work to finish off :P lolz later bebs! :D

away from here, away from here.
take me now, hold me dear.
let me touch the paradise that u have found.
come closer now, don't be afraid.
all i want is something i don't have that is so pure.
- a chorus from li pei's paradise.

for a while i always wanting a gf. someone to call my own. but i guess i was in a rush. to the point i suffocate myself. i don't need a gf. really. i might be lonely at times but i have come to term that i can't just rush into r/s. i know what i want and i just can't have it yet. like they say, good things will come to ppl who wait.
arggh...i just burned a hole in my wallet today. yep! my car just had to keep giving me probs. problematic car. i think she's like me. always wanting attention. lolz well, after the engine oil changed, it runs smoother now and so much for the extra few hundreds i had to spend on her on a leaking part. yep, its a her. been driving her since i got my driving license. its been a decade of r/s. the longest one i had. even longer than all my premature dates/ex-es. i had never spent so much money on any girls before. seriously. i spent more time with this car than any of my ex-es. that is why i don't feel like selling her off. i know one day i might have to let go, get a new car but she's been thru so much ups and downs with me. memories. its pretty much like being with a real person. "its a mystical bond between human and machine." u won't know till u had a car u drove for more than a decade. if only my car can transform and talk when i'm bored. *i must be really bored to even think of this. anyhoo, have a nice weekend ppl!

anime craze

few years back, when my sis was hooked on naruto, i was like whats the big deal u know? then yesterday my colleague lend me his collection of naruto on dvd, went home and started watching. guess what? its actually not bad. which reminds me, i have not finish watching one piece. aww...suddenly i feel like wanting to dl so many anime and watch. but u know, our internet connection is crappy and if only i have the patience and time to sit down quietly and watch. if u know me for some time, u know i'm not a person who can sit still. lolz

yeah, i had haircut again! and highlights! psst!
while u'r here, pls check this out! if u like acoustic jazzy songs, u will likey. trust me!
suddenly everything becomes so distant and unreachable.
sometimes i question my own insanity.
there i was again. alone. feeling aloof.
back to square one.

don't take it personal

just my personal opinion, harry "disappointed" potter. the only parts i like bout the whole movie is the opening scene where the sky turn grainy ocean pitch dark and the wizards fighting scene at the end. although someone only remember the kissing scene lolz.
what do i know? i don't even read harry potter books. reminder: i shall never watch midnight movie ever again! i got home at 4am. oh goodie! hows that for lack of sleep. i'm like digging my own grave. lolz
still trying my luck on transformers ticket but to no avail, it has been fully booked since the premiere day. only left with front seats. oh dear. maybe better luck next time? (but when will be the next time?!! grrr....) ok, fine i know i've watch transformers but i just need to watch another time. otherwise, i hope lil sis back home would buy the dvd so i can enjoy it on the big ass plasma which is equally sweet! :P ok...nuff bragging. im so hungry. been hungry since 3pm. what about my lunch? oh, in case u didn't know, i get hungry pretty fast. bah!

have u ever sat yum char-ing at your fave mamak stall and suddenly u heard a loud bang! not exactly a bang but more like 3 loud tumbling noise. a myvi somehow got itself tumbled and was seen upside down crashing to the nearest tree last night at SS2. i kidd u not. fortunately, the driver and the passenger escaped the incident with minimal casualty. not sure how it happened but it was fast and sudden. i overheard ppl talking about the incident. maybe the driver hits the brakes too sudden or was speeding? whatever it is, no one was hurt.
have u ever go to mamak and to find out the friend's parents wanted to join u? well, i can say i had my first hand experience last night. it was quite nerve breaking. it was kinda awkward too. lolz the thing is, i'm guessing the parents just want to know whom their kids hang out with. double swt... :P i guess if i become a parent next time, i won't go to that extent but i won't mind to know if my kids r hanging out with the right crowds.
oh ya, harry potter and the order of the phoenix is premiering tonight. woot

what a mat "7" day...tho the date is very nice. so nice i think i will remember i worked on this SPECIAL day! lolz can u feel the sarcasm flowing? lolz i worked one full day and extra few hours but guess what? no claims or anything. really shitty right? :( well, thats what it is in this line of work.
i hate it the fact its a beautiful saturday and i already had plans. oh f*ck it.
the fact i love lazying on saturday and its my fave day of the week. i planned on washing my car. hang out at friend's condo. take a swim. dinner and jalan-jalan afterwards. eventually i got out of the office n rush to my friend's place to have dinner. when i arrived, they had all taken their dinner and laying around watching astro. man, i really hate the fact why do i have to slave my day off doing work. i actually don't mind working late on friday nites but come on, weekend? !@#* ok.,there! i just had to vent it out here! T-T diu!
edited: did i mention there was no air con? its like a sauna in there! fuhs even fan do no justice...the more i think about it, the more upset i get. lolz ok...chill man chill...lolz *fans myself*

everything in moderation

whenever i have dinner alone, i tend to observe ppl and my surrounding. i realized life in the city is hard. its hectic. there is no chance for mistakes. the kiasu-ness is so tense u can feel it even when u'r driving on the road to work. u know it when u don't wanna give ways to the other cars trying desperately to cut in the lane. sometimes i wonder why i made this choice to work in the city. the air, water and noise pollution is kao kao. back home, its so breezy and cooling at night and i even get the see the stars by looking up the sky. here? fat chance man. see polluted sky and clouds got la. lol the only stars here are satelites lolz
well, i guess the only reason i'm working in this polluted concrete city is for the working experience and exposure. otherwise, i would be seen lepaking and chilling on a sat at bing's cafe which i kill to have. life in kch is good. the food is cheap. family is there. get to bully sis. lol and get to watch big ass plasma tv chilling on my mum's exp sofa watching korean dramas on dvd. get to roam in a big house. friends r just a call away. its like a small paradise. i tell u. but whats lack is probably big city life entertainment and working exposure. otherwise i won't trade kch for anything. ANYTHING! nah uh!
i'm scare. i'm scare that the city might eat me up. i witnessed ppl coming to the city and changed. they became more realistic and materialized. i guess i did change at some point. i became this other person i don't even know anymore. i look in the mirror but all i see is a boy living his dream but has he forgotten his root? u tell me.
the only lacking now is love. i still hate to eat alone. i hate to see lovey dovey couples. i still hate to watch movie alone and i only do it cos its easier to get better seat and no hassle waiting for ppl or having the other person wanting to watch another movie which is opposed to yours. which is part of the reason i'm happy to see familiar faces visiting kl and me being the host. parting with them is hard too. not when u'r having the time of your life with them. i'm never good with parting.
sometimes i wonder if i ever going to meet "you". oh well, if i don't, i guess its ok. i don't mind being not married uncle to my sister's children next time. i'll bet i'll be a cool uncle :P anyways, that is not the point. i wish someday sooner, i'll get to meet "you" and write our love just so ppl can only read of.

calv's alter ego signing off! xoxo

are we not heard

there is this rush in me since yesterday. this high telling me i should go and chase my dream. i don't know if its peer pressure that ppl that r close to me is fleeing the country or going to soon (some already had). deep down, my heart is telling me i should not stay in this forsaken land while i'm young. i should go travel and see the other side of the world when i have the chance. life is about taking risks no? there has been heaps of talks and words in almost every blog and conversation. i'm quite sick of this land. its ill. in order to save it, it needs heaps of restructuring. but who and how? maybe thats y relatives and family friends had migrated to other countries in the last decades. the weight on my chest is heavy. i don't know if i can let go of what i have now. family, friends and other commitments in life. if i leave, i know i will struggle and start from scratch. my alter ego begs to leave this place. my rational wants to stay put. oh dilemma... (well maybe, just maybe i need a gf to save me from all these drama) but i won't settle for second best. thats how i roll. maybe i shouldn't be complaining so much knowing other 3rd world countries are facing more desperate situation that this land. this land i call home. was it ever my home in the first place?
